Display waypoint on Garmin Chartplotter was created by Donnybrook
Hello--Are there any tricks to display a waypoint on a Garmin chartplotter (Echomap 73sv)? My Raymarine instruments (i70s, p70s) see a waypoint but not the Garmin chartplotter. OpenCPN has a "Use Garmin GRMN-GRMN (Host)" option. Does qtVlm have something similar?

Hi Kyle,
I am not familiar with the Garmin Echomap I understand from the documentation that on the Plus 70/60 series you can import NMEA 0183. www8.garmin.com/manuals/webhelp/echomapp...98-2AFB6044F5D1.html
If you have set the right wire scheme and comm settings (baud rate etc) perhaps you can use - send active WP to NMEA output in QTVLM -> Configuration->Boat Instruments-> check "Send active WP to NMEA output" and select the information to be send.
Does the "Use GArmin GRMN-GRMN (Host)" option work for you in OpenCPN?

Thanks for the response, Ludwig. I think i'm running into NMEA 0183 to 2000 conversion issues. I've connected my Raspberry PI running qtVlm to the Garmin via NMEA 0183 and can now receive waypoint data from the Garmin. Previously it was connected via NMEA 2000 through a YDWG-02.
I'll report share my experience once I get everything working.

Ok thank you, you probably have the matching ports and protocol (NMEA0183) etc set in QtVLM on input and output resources and YDWG-02? Curious to hear if you got this working.
