O-Charts/S63 on qtVlm was created by rahra
I recently stumbled on qtVlm and it looks really great at a first glance!
So far I used OpenCPN on Raspberry which basically works good as well but the UI and look&feel is very retro and doesn't feel up to date.
On the boat I have some charts bought from O-Charts ( o-charts.org/ ) which are S-63 charts.
Is it possible to use these together qtVlm? Or do I have to buy new charts?
Sorry, I didn't really understand how this sea chart jungle works...
Best regards,
Bernhard

These charts are only available on opencpn. They never answered to our request to support it in qtvlm

The OpenCPN people are some how snobbish and arrogant. And their trial and error system for updating the software is a little bit unusual.
Therefore I switched to qtVlm some times ago.
Since more then 10 years I use the free and obviously pirated cm93 charts for sailing the Mediterranean and now the North Sea. For some marinas and anchor places I have had to build my own geo-referenced charts using free tools like sat2chart and SASPlanet but I never needed to buy charts like o-charts or S63. CM993 is still sufficient for me. Even in the North Sea the boys and fire are still at the same same place...

Sorry for late reply!
So the best thing would be to just purchase the maps with the "in-app" buy feature, isn't it?
I would need a huge area, so the the Mediterranean, Norway, Iceland, Azores, ...

And yes, I agree. I had some annoying discussions about various such issues. Also weather models (ECMWF) and so on.The OpenCPN people are some how snobbish and arrogant. And their trial and error system for updating the software is a little bit unusual.
