Hi,In Boat Settings > Polar, there are separate "Efficiency upwind" and "Efficiency downwind" percentage fields (e.g. 100% / 92%).Could you clarify exactly how qtVLM decides which one applies at a given TWA? Specifically:
  1. Is there a fixed TWA threshold (e.g. 90°) that switches between the two, or is it relative to each boat's own best-VMG-upwind/best-VMG-downwind angles (shown in the "Best Angles" box)?
  2. Is there a hard cutoff, or a blended/interpolated transition zone between the two efficiencies?
  3. Does this threshold change with wind speed (since best VMG angles do)?
Thanks!

Thx ...because I opened a topic dealing with this matter a couple of months ago with no answer.
I think this topic does need some clarificatiions in regards to what means what and what rule applies and when.

1/ In the polar param we have upwind/downwind (près/portant in french) and as per the above reply threshold is 90°, fine.
2/ In the routing params we have beating/reaching (près/portant in french)
it is my understanding the threshold is 90° as well then, Correct? (though the translation is confusing because reaching = portant in french)
3/ Then we have the route statistics: Beating/reaching/downwind (près/largue/portant in french) where
- beating = 0 -> lower limit of the polar + 30° (Près in french)
- downwind = 180 -> upper limit of the polar - 20° (portant in french)
- reaching = what is in between (largue in french)

Please feel free to correct me if I misunderstood something or if you think it needs some clarification at some point.
Thank you.
