On the route, thanks, adding the extension creates the desired format. KML imports fine when shared, but AirDrop wants to send me to the App Store for GPX files (or Open with Files), it doesn't give me qtVlm as a choice. I can share GPX to qtVlm from Files, though, so, workable but strange (possibly bug in AirDrop, since Apple knows to send from Files but not from AirDrop?).
On the zip import, I just open qtVlm, and send in the file. However, I discovered that if qtVlm is not running (post-crash), sending in the file will open qtVlm and import it fine! If I import it again while qtVlm is open, it crashes. So there's a workaround. Let me know if you have a way to report a crash where you can see symbols, etc. (e.g. TestFlight), if you have time to try and fix. Not a priority item for me...
