Hi Martin,
Sorry for the delayed answer, really busy times here.
So I tested again the whole story, qtVlm on a Windows 10 machine and Companion on a Samsung Galaxy A9 and then S4. It takes around 20 secs to connect at startup, and then I cannot see any particular problem or lag in Map Mode or in Race Mode. It is of course slower that in WIFI mode, but it is smooth enough.
So in my opinion the problem is on your side, probably on Windows side, I have no idea what exactly (wrong BT drivers, some bad hardware, some interference with another radio signal like WIFI, ...).
If you intend to use it on your boat through TCP, why not trying to build a ad hoc network between your PC and your Android devices? It's very simple to do. Of course connecting them on the same WIFI box is even simpler.
Philippe

Hi Philippe,
hopefully I can go to my boat tomorrow afternoon and will try wifi; that would be my preferable choice anyway; if I can`t get to the boat I try the ad hoc wifi over the weekend; but the strange thing is the screen update rate in start mode of 1x/minute (exactly 60 seconds all the time).
Regards
Martin

One minute exactly is quite weird indeed. Just to make sure everything is OK with qtVlm on Windows side you can delete qtVlm.ini and restart it (that will reset all your settings). But I doubt it will fix anything.

Hi Philippe,
tested companion over wifi and no problems with the connection and stability; that was o.K.; after that I tried the connection over bluetooth again and suddenly it worked; still a couple of seconds delay from time to time but useable; it looks like it needed the first connection over wifi to handle the bluetooth ? I´m still missing the distance to line ; on the windows pc it shows the yellow and blue values for the distance; in companion there is always the value of 0,00; maybe because I`m not moving with my "virtual homeoffice boat" ?
Regards

Hi,
I cannot imagine any reason why you would need to first use WIFI to get a working BT connection....
I will check the distance to lines again on Companion
